Combe Florey Village Hall is a self sufficient entity, running solely on the funds raised from the annual events that are held on site, plus the income generated by the private hiring’s from the various clubs and individuals throughout the year.
From time to time, we do, however, plan upgrades to the building and infrastructure which do require extra money in order to complete.
Over the last few years we have replaced the roof covering at a cost of around £5,000 and all of the hall heaters and the electricity board, at a cost of around £14,000. These repairs/renewals were paid for solely by the village hall, with no aid from external income sources.
We are now pleased to announce that the extension to the village hall has also been completed and is being used as intended, to store equipment and books, therefore freeing up the maximum amount of space in the hall itself. The completion of the extension was tinged with great sadness, however, as Tony French our architect and great friend to the village hall, sadly passed away just after the building works were completed. It is thanks to Tony that the hall benefitted from many of its current features and he will be sorely missed by us all.
Thank you to everyone that has supported the village hall and contributed to the funds to allow this extension to be built. The final cost weighed in at around £16,000 and was funded by your kind donations, bolstered by a £1,500 grant that we received from Taunton Deane Borough Council and the money also donated by the Co-op (over £2,000).
We continue to run events and raise money for the upkeep and maintenance of the hall, for the use and enjoyment of the people of our village. Thank you for your continued support to allow us to do this. Watch this space for our next proposed upgrade….
