Despite the somewhat challenging growing conditions this year, we had another well attended and enjoyable Autumn Fun Show on Saturday (1st September 2018).
There were some fabulous wares on display this year (fruit, vegetables, crafts, flowers and baked goods), which went on to make almost £160 at the end of show auction, thanks to some spirited bidding.
A big thank you to all contributors and visitors who helped to raise a grand total of just over £250 – which will go towards the village hall extension.
A special thank you to Peter and Mary Climo and their “team”, who set up and ran the show and also to our judges and finally to our auctioneer (and Chairman) Philip Greenway.
And now to start planning next years veg patch……
For the remainder of 2018, we have the following events planned – so far!
1st December – Christmas Bazaar
There will be the usual plethora of toys, games, crafts, cakes and gifts for sale, along with the tombola and raffle. This years theme is Brigadoon – and there will be a prize for the best use of tartan – so get your thinking caps on! We hope to see you all there at 2.30pm (10am – 12 noon for tombola and stall donations).
We are also currently planning some extra events to run during 2018. These are our latest ideas, but please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to suggest anything else:
Proposed events for 2018:
Film night – early October 2018
Cheese and wine tasting event – end of November
If possible, we would also like to run an “Auction of Promises” evening before the end of the year, to raise some more funds for the village hall extension. If you know of anyone who would like to contribute a prize or donation, please email us with the details (email@example.com).
